Warning

This is the back of my entry form.  Look closely at the red print.

Say what you will.  It's very effective.

Changi International Airport.

Wow.  Granted we saw it sparsely populated at midnight local time, but the place is enormous.  It has 4 terminals an the one we were in was cavernous.  This is a 4+ story water feature in one of the baggage carousels.

Tim will be in a lot of my photos.  I use him for scale.  This is simply an indoor garden in the baggage area Below the mammoth main concourse.  That large bush the the left of Tim is an orchid.  I'm not kidding.

This is that giant water feature.  There are several of them sitting inside the the baggage carousels.  Pictures do not do it justice.

Time Travel, part 2

As I mentioned earlier, I am in the future.  That happens somewhere northeast of Japan.  Here's what time travel does to a person.

This is me, some 15 hours into the journey, perhaps over the Philippines.

The flights were very good and smooth.

Time Travel

30 minutes into our 9.5 hour flight to Japan, a flight attendant dumped a full half quart of orange juice on the young man sitting beside me.  I received a bit of sticky splatter, but he got drenched.  He had a change of clothes with him and when he came back, I mentioned that he should see about getting moved to a new seat as he shouldn't have to sit in his.  He did and he got moved up in class and I got the row to myself.  It all worked out.

Once in Japan, the cultural differences started to become apparent...

Mercifully, there are options....

Montueswednesday

Ah.  The internet.  How I've come to expect it to always be near at hand.  It hasn't been.  Neither flight offered it (even at a charge) and I've been unable to find any free WiFi spots.  The room's ethernet has been persnickety at best.  I it seems to only connect a computer on it's whim.  I am currently in its graces, so I shall post a number of things in a series from the last few days.  Keep in mind, I am in the future, so much of this hasn't happened yet...

AMTRAK

It has been nearly 30 years since I have been on a passenger train in the US, other then The Cascades.  I have to admit that it is significantly more comfortable then air travel.  A thought that will become more galvanized over the next 36 hours. Now if the Coast Starlight had WiFi...

Once more out of the country!

I am 48 hours from catching a train out of town for another adventure.  I thought I would get the old Blog out, dust it off, re-train myself on how to use it, and send links to the half a dozen people who might have some interest in my travels.
