Sunday, Part 3
We were treated to a real show at Raffles. They had two males that were ready to strip the babies from. These fish are paternal mouthbrooders, so Daddy Fish holds the eggs and developing fry in his mouth until they are able to swim and fend for themselves. Farmers take the fry early and raise them in tanks and let the male recover from his fast. This is a demonstration of the stripping process.
Sunday, Part 2
In truth, there wasn't that much waiting. They did an excellent job of ushering us along. |
First stop: Raffles Arowana. The place is huge. I used Tim for scale.... |
The interior rearing tanks |
The railing overlooking the ponds. The Arowana was a very nice touch. |
The first of many. |
How to sooth the savage Arowana? Transmore? MS222 perhaps? |

Carnivore
After our trek up the Sands, we were off to have dinner with a few other Aquarama attendees. The recommendation? Carnivore. A Brazilian Churrascaria where servers walk around with giant skewers of a variety of meats and a few other things. It was very filling.

Backtracking
I thought I would try to add a video. If it works there are some really good ones coming later. This should be one of the displays at a booth at Aquarama.
The Sands Marina Singapore
I mentioned a few days ago that you would see this building again. Saturday was the day Tim and I decided to venture to the top and the observation deck.
The views are stunning.

I love Panorama Mode |
The view from the harbor side. Flying in at night my first vision of Singapore was the vast number of cargo ships in the harbor all lit up in the dark. The picture does not do the scene justice. I have no idea what the development in the foreground is, but it's likely to be modern, styling, and a shopping mall...
So, I pointed this out to Tim. I questioned the reliability of the glass railing/barrier and thought that this was not a good sign.
His response? "It looks like they have it taken care of."
I would have missed his sense of humor...
Saturday
Now that things have slowed down, I shall try to get this blog caught up. Please bear with me.
Saturday was a pretty typical morning. Breakfast in the hotel and then the hike to the show. It was the first day that was open to the public. Nice to see some interest. Too bad all the youngsters were downstairs at the game fair.
